The arrival of the Audi RS6 has given a whole new meaning to the term “vehicle dynamics.” As was the case with the Audi RS4, the new top model in the Audi A6 Series was conceived by Audi’s star designers at quattro GmbH and developed in conjunction with Audi AG. The quattro four-wheel drive Audi RS6 has a 4.2-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers, five valves per cylinder and twin charge air cooling. With 450 hp, 415 lb/ft of torque, Tiptronic 5- speed automatic transmission, and a sport suspension, the RS6 has the agility of a sports car, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds). Adding to the sporty feel and appearance of the RS6 are the Formula 1-style Tiptronic shift “paddles” on the steering wheel.

Audi RS6 is the first vehicle to use the hydraulic active running gear system Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). This damper system eliminates much of the body roll and pitch encountered on cornering. A brake system with disc diameters of 365 mm (front) and 335 mm (rear) ensures balanced deceleration. With its high-grade materials, the exclusive interior equipment of the Audi RS6 combines a sporty atmosphere and excellent comfort.

2004 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER XLS MANUAL. Like many compact sport-utility vehicles, the Outlander rides on a car-based platform, in this case, borrowed from the Lancer. The Outlander is similar in size to other vehicles in its category. It is available in LS (FWD) and XLS (AWD) versions, and for 2004 has 160 hp, up from of 140 hp.Both the front and rear seats offer easy accessibility. The front seats are very comfortable, with adjustable lumbar support on the driver’s seat. The driving position is very good for most people, but short persons are seated too low.
The rear bench seats two comfortably. Both sides of the 60/40 split seatback incline to at least six different positions. Headroom and leg room are generous.
The roomy trunk has a high, 4X4-type sill, and a rather narrow opening that limits the size of objects that could otherwise fit inside.
Convenience and safety
The Outlander is well finished inside. Soundproofing is generally good, though wind noise, mostly from the roof rack, is prevalent. You can also hear the occasion cracking sound from the roof. The cabin is well outfitted in storage compartments.
Instruments and controls are well laid out, though the mirror controls are too hard to reach for short drivers. Only the driver-side power window control is lit up at night. The rear wiper has only one intermittent cycle and does not clean large areas on both sides of the window.
